Iran says its negotiations with Iraq on gas exports have not stopped

A member of the Union of Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals Hamid Hosseini announced the continuation of negotiations between Iran and the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to export Iranian gas to this country, indicating that the ministry wants to replace natural gas with diesel fuel and oil derivatives.

Husseini said in a press statement that the Iraqi side wants to use natural gas for the industries and the housing sector. Of course, these negotiations in the initial stages have not yet determined the level and time.

His answer to the question was whether gas exports needed to establish a new pipeline? Said that this topic should examine whether previous pipelines had an absorptive capacity to transport more gas or that new pipelines should be constructed.

Negotiations for gas exports have been conducted with the former Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and are now being conducted with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.
