Italy’s Eni has announced that the production capacity of the Egyptian gas field could reach 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day over the next few months, saving the country billions of dollars in hard currency.
Eni said in a statement that the production capacity of the ZOHR field amounted to 1.6 billion cubic feet per day, and is expected to reach 2 billion cubic feet per day by September.
The company said it had raised 50 million euros in advance for future gas supplies to the Egyptian government.
Egypt’s largest gas field, discovered in the Mediterranean Sea in 2015, is the Egyptian El-Masri gas field. The Egyptian government is helping to overcome the shortage of energy supplies.
