Iran’s oil companies will take part in Iraq reconstruction projects, Vice President of the Iranian Federation of Petroleum Industries Reza Baidar said on Wednesday.
“The Iranian companies have received requests from Iraqi companies,” he said in a press statement. “The readiness of companies in the country and its interest in participating in the reconstruction of southern Iraq, including Baghdad and Basra.”
“There are sanctions imposed on Iraq and Iran has not been allowed to work for political reasons. This has hindered Iranian companies from going to Iraq, but we are ready to work with Russian companies, which will have priority in joint ventures,” the official said.
“After that we go to Iraq together because it is a neighboring country and it is easy to set up projects because of the proximity between the two countries, especially with regard to sending technology and engineers.”
