The Kuwait International Conference on Iraq Reconstruction started Monday morning with the participation of hundreds of international companies, international organizations and financial institutions.
The meeting will be opened by the Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Abdulwahab Al-Bader, with the participation of Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alaq, President of the Reconstruction Fund for Iraq’s Affected Areas Mustafa Al-Hiti and the Director General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
This will be followed by a session on the reform program of the Government of Iraq, headed by Minister of Planning Salman Jumaili, and will talk about the government’s plans for recovery, reconstruction and funding needs, as well as peaceful coexistence, appreciation of losses and needs, and the activities of the Reconstruction Fund in areas liberated from the Da’ash organization.

In parallel, a conference of non-governmental organizations to support the humanitarian situation in Iraq will be held on Monday, with the participation of the President of the Islamic Charitable Organization Abdullah Al-Ma’touq, the Chairman of the Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq, Abdul Karim Al-Faisal and the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Partnership for the Middle East and Central Asia , Rashid Khalikov.
The conference will focus on the latest developments in the humanitarian situation in Iraq and the humanitarian response efforts in the country. The conference will discuss the declaration of pledges to support the humanitarian situation in Iraq for the year 2018, as well as the mechanisms and facilities to be provided by the Iraqi government to the contracting organizations.
