British Ambassador to Iraq John Wilkes on Wednesday announced readiness to settle relations between Baghdad and Erbil.
Wilkes said during a press conference held with the governor of Karbala Aqil Turaihi, that his country is ready to settle relations between Baghdad and Erbil and the opening of airports in Kurdistan.
“Britain supports democracy in Iraq and is working with the international community to ensure the integrity of elections and to ensure that they are conducted freely,” he said. Stressing the “commitment of the United Kingdom to establish a partnership with Iraq in various fields and seek to develop trade and economic relations and facilitate the process of entry of British companies to the province and contribute to the process of reconstruction and construction.”
Wilkes arrived in Karbala on Wednesday for the first visit of his kind.
