Oil Minister Jabbar Ali al-Allaibi announced on Monday that an agreement was reached with the US company Orin to invest gas associated with oil operations in Ben Omar field in Basra province.
“The Ministry’s efforts to optimize the investment of the gas wealth have resulted in a preliminary agreement to invest gas in the Ben Omar field in the province of Basra,” al-Allaibi said in a statement.
“It is hoped that the memorandum of understanding will be signed within the next few days between the investment company and Basra Oil Company.”
It is noteworthy that the field of the Ben Omar River is one of the most promising fields in southern Iraq, where it is developed by the national effort. Its crude oil production is more than 40,000 barrels per day and 25 million standard cubic feet per day of crude gas.
