World Bank calls on Iraq to develop new tools for investors

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alaq discussed with a delegation from the World Bank a paper prepared by the bank, which is to be presented at the Conference on the reconstruction of Iraq in Kuwait.
“The parallel line for the reconstruction of the affected areas and the opening of investment is a new approach, which Iraq insists on achieving,” he said.
“It is a big challenge, but it represents a set of treatments for the problems of the investment process in Iraq.”
He pointed out that Iraq is moving in the direction of opening the door to foreign investors, and give them high degrees of credibility.
For his part, the World Bank team stressed the need to develop new tools for the investor, and show flexibility by the Iraqi government, and facilitate the process of preparing investment papers for those interested.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers thanked the Panel for its efforts in making a paper on the problems facing Iraq in the context of opening the door to investment for many sectors and projects in the next phase “
