The first deputy governor of Dhi Qar Adel al-Dakhili announced on Wednesday the start of direct flights from the airports of Nasiriyah and Mashhad of Iran, the rate of one trip a week.
Dakhili said in a statement that “Iraqi Airways officially approved the opening of the line (Nasiriyah – Mashhad) through Nasiriyah International Airport,” noting that “the first flights will take off on Wednesday morning next.”
“The flights will be at the rate of one trip per week with the possibility of increasing them to two or more flights according to the turnout and numbers of passengers heading to the city of Mashhad directly,” pointing out that “next year will see the operation of international flights directly from Nasiriyah airport to Beirut and work on increasing The number of flights to other countries. ”
On March 10, 2017, the Minister of Transport, Kazem Fangan al-Hammami, opened the Nasiriyah International Airport and the first domestic plane landed on the same day.
