Director of licenses and contracts in the Ministry of Oil Abdul-Mahdi al-Amidi, announced Tuesday, the beginning of receipt of bids for the development of nine oil and gas fields in June in an attempt by the Iraqi state to strengthen its oil imports.
“Detailed energy information will be disclosed in the nine areas at the end of this month,” Amidi said in a press release.
“Companies bidding on projects will be able, for the first time, to participate in the drafting of the contract, as an incentive for bidders.”
He said that “five of the nine fields or blocks as referred to as Iraq shares with Iran and Kuwait and one in the Gulf.”
Iraq has the fourth largest oil reserves in the world. “
