The parliamentary energy committee announced on Sunday that 35 companies had submitted bids to the Ministry of Oil to establish an oil pipeline between Basra and the Jordanian port of Aqaba.
“35 companies have submitted their bids to the Ministry of Oil to establish a line of 1,700 km from Basra to Aqaba in Jordan,” said Zahir al-Abadi, a member of the committee. “The gas line that will be next to the oil line has been postponed because of the financial crisis.”
He explained that “Iraq is looking for more than an outlet for the export of oil to avoid any accidents that disrupt the export of oil in the future.”
