Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi said Monday during his visit to the province of Kirkuk that the ministry plans to increase production from the fields of the province to one million barrels per day, stressing the ministry’s keenness to develop facilities and oil fields in Kirkuk.
“The ministry is keen to accelerate the development of oil facilities and oil fields in the province of Kirkuk,” said Allaibi in a statement carried by his media office during his inspection of the field of Bay Hassan in Kirkuk.
“We instructed the employees of the North Oil Company to expedite the rehabilitation and maintenance operations of the said field and to increase the production by digging more wells,” Al-Luaibi said, adding that “the fields of Baie Hassan and Havana have been severely damaged due to misuse in the previous period.”
