An oil ministry official said Monday that oil and gas production in the province of Kirkuk is going on as usual despite the ongoing security operation in the province.
The official added that there is agreement with some Kurdish leaders to keep oil and gas facilities far from what is happening inside Kirkuk.
The Iraqi federal forces entered the areas of Kirkuk province to impose security and protect civilians, according to directives issued by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider Abadi.
